 note = {While the number of people engaging in VDT work increases, "The summary of new VDT work guidelines" was announced (H 12.4) by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare , and far visual acuity test and near visual acuity test are now obligatory. Early detection and early treatment of poor eyesight can increase efficiency and can promote work in a comfortable state. On October 31, 2011, we carried out tests for visual acuity and near visual acuity (using an NV-300 automatic eyesight measuring device manufactured by NIDEK Corporation) and verified the eyesight for employees (90) in Company A. We also conducted a survey into the burden of work. As a result, an association between poor near visual acuity and work efficiency became clear. Furthermore, we carried out "pencil exercises" for one month to ease strain of the culinary muscle in the VDT work. We had carried out similar research among primary schoolchildren, and an eyesight improvement effect and a concentration improvement effect were verified continuously to the present. An eyesight improvement effect was found when we performed far visual acuity tests and near visual acuity tests and the survey again one month later. In particular, it had an effect on the group of subjects 40 years or older.This is the age at which farsightedness begins.},
