The first survey was conducted on 83 units (including 16 large scale farmers) from July 2009 to April 2010. The second session was held in September and November 2015 for 46 units (including 4 large-scale farmers). The specific content of analysis is as follows. 1. Economic situation of local rural areas. 2. The situation of the farmer’s economy. 3. Production status of main crops. 4. Status of use of farmland. 5. Current status of agricultural labor force and trends of successors. As a result of this analysis, the following problems have become clear. In the suburbs of China, regional agriculture is gradually declining. The main causes are the productivity gap between agriculture and other industries, deepening of side jobs, the aging of the agricultural labor force, and the loss of labor out of agriculture.
