Food safety accidents had been frequented in China\nsince its opening up and reform; in particular, the major food safety\naccidents that occurred often since the 21st century had not only caused\nsevere physical damage to victims and hurt the feelings of Chinese people\nmuch, but also marred China’s international image.\nTo address food safety problems, Chinese governments made active\nendeavors to perfect laws and regulations on food safety and improve its\ninspection mechanisms. These efforts have yielded good results. Supervised\nby the laws and guided by the governments, agriculture-related personnel\nand food enterprises actively introduced new production and processing\nsystems to improve product quality. In the main parts of this paper,\nChina’s food safety problems in the 2010s are considered, their causes are\nexplored, major accidents are recounted, the responses from governments\nand enterprises are summarized. On this basis, the reality of China’s food\nsafety is further examined to find out study focuses and their solutions in\nthe future.\nFirst, we discussed the history and current status of food safety in China\nin chronological order at three development stages: food quantity safety,\nfood quality safety, and food sustainability safety. In particular, he\ndescribed the current status of fertilizer and pesticide use, food safety law,\ncorporate ethics, and strict supervision of social cooperation.\n To address recurrent food safety issues, the Chinese government is\nactively encouraging the development of new types of agricultural\nbusinesses, promoting standardized vegetable production, establishing and\nimproving agricultural safety tracking systems, etc. Implemented a series\nof policies and measures in rural areas. In this way, it not only ensured\nfood safety in China, but also promoted agricultural modernization and\nsustainable development.\nThanks to years’ efforts from all sectors of society, food safety has\nimproved a lot. However, new questions arise as to the exact impacts of\nthe new laws and agricultural polices as well as experimental models on\nagricultural production and food safety, whether favorable conditions are\noffered to the new-type agricultural businesses in practice, and the\napplication of the agricultural product tracking system, etc. The answers\nneed to be found out through follow-up on-site investigations in food\ncompanies and vegetable production bases.
