| 内容記述 | This paper investigates the Japanese housing system in terms of corporate welfare. According to Housing and Land Survey, 60％ of the population are homeowners in Japan. Among developed countries, this figure is one of the highest. Moreover, privately owned houses that are rented out constitute a greater share of the total number of rented houses. The large number of issued houses such as company houses and dormitories is unique to the Japanese housing system. The Japanese Housing System is the mixture of the conservative regime and the liberal regime. We analyze the official statistics and the labor union’s historical materials. Companies have covered fringe benefit costs for housing. Since the 1990s, it has seemed that there would be significant change in the fringe benefit costs for housing per employee. Companies are tend to hire nonregular workers, who are usually exempt from benefits, and tend to remove issued houses. With the privatization of housing loans and other changes, liberal economic policies have become increasingly market oriented. Consequently, the financial burden on families has increased, and the younger generations face instability. |
