| 内容記述 | This essay explains the learning support services for students with disabilities at University of Canterbury in New Zealand and their good practices which we can learn from. Firstly, the current situation of learning support services at universities in Japan is briefly mentioned. Secondly, the government's policy on students with disabilities in tertiary education in New Zealand and the Disability Resource Service(DRS)at the University of Canterbury are explained. New Zealand has a set of guidelines called the "New Zealand Code of Practice for an Inclusive Tertiary Education Environment for Students with Impairments". It was developed by Achieve which is a national network established to ensure equal opportunity and access to post-secondary education and training for people with impairments. Under the code, the DRS provide services to their students. Thirdly, services supplied by the DRS, including note-taking, reading, sign language interpreting, laboratory and research assistance, are defined. Finally, the conclusion focuses on three important points in their practice: Their policy and network, professional support by professional people, and co-operation with groups and organizations which provide services outside the university. I hope this essay can contribute to the development of learning support in Japanese universities. | |||||
