| 内容記述 | the causes of the teacher shortage is that teachers are too busy. In the spring of 2021, a pre-service teacher accused too busy for their job in the “#Teacher Baton Project” on Twitter, which is managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). However, it is possible that the busyness of the profession is not the main reason for the shortage of teachers, as most teachers probably know about the busyness of the profession in advance, even before they start their jobs. In this paper, the questionnaire item “If I could decide again, I would still choose to work as a teacher” is positioned as an indicator of the awareness of connecting the “#teacher baton”, and the determinants of this awareness are analyzed. The findings from the analysis of the TALIS 2018 data were as follows: (1) it was the perception of treatment in terms of salary and media recognition that made them want to become a teacher again; (2) there was little statistical relationship between working hours and the status of the class they were in charge of. The purpose of the “#Teacher Baton” was to convey the appeal of the teaching profession, but in-service teachers are basically attracted to the teaching profession. However, the reason why they are hesitant to pass on the baton is because of the treatment they receive, such as salary and treatment by the media. |
